»»The FW2011 LUHONG COUTURE show has seen an endless lineup of supermodels including Bianca Bai, Sue Wang, Lei Hung and Doris Tung, along with their fellow Catwalk models Candy Wang, Shattina Li, Ruru Lin, Jade Chang and Annie Chen. Kelly Chang, former model and now agent, has also returned to the runway for the event, truly making it a reunion of supermodels.
Another unique feature of the show was the jewelry section, which featured Edidi, the handmade clutch maker from New York, Hollywood favorite Judith Leiber, heirloom jewelry Miriam Haskell and Handmade umbrellas by Pasotti. Even with limited ability, the items have grossed sales figures of over NT$1m within the afternoon.
Reinterpreting its luxurious staple, the LUHONG COUTURE AW11 season has seen extensive use of silk satin and boucle tweed, along with impeccable craftsmanship. “The details, including jewelry studded cuffs and collars, has really been up a level from previous seasons.” said Ivan Hung, co-designer of the label, while his partner Lu Fong-Chih stated that the emphasis has been placed on the employment of broderie anglaise and colorful gemstones, which really added another dimention to the clothes.
The show was opened by director Bigi in the iconic smoking suit, which exemplified androgynity with a potent shoulder line paired up with flared trousers. The show closing gown, which supermodel Bianca Bai sported, also broke away from the traditional wedding attire in terms of both color- a blazing red, and cut- a lofty 70s mods style.
“I’d like to see a revival in Haute Couture” said Designer Lu Fong Chih, urging the younger generation to embrace bespoke garments. “No matter if it is an interview or any other formal event, a custom made attire would always be a plus.”««
