Born in England, Tanju cultivated his passion and love toward skateboard culture and created Palace Skateboards in 2009, he found himself using American skateboard items and realized he needed to create one from England. So Palace is born.
At first, Palace was not famous until the collaboration with Reebok for Workout Low shoes which was particularly made for skate lovers. Without any business concern and earning money, this collection was ironically sold in Supreme stores. Besides the collaboration, the social platforms helped as well as all Millennium labels do. Instagram affected the most. Celebrities also did effect on spreading the fame including Jay Z, A$AP Rocky, Rita Ora, Kanye West and North West. But the true reason Palace became famous should thank to the reinterpretation of skateboard by erotic video made by the Palace team. JENKEN once post an article before the brand was famous, saying the videos conveyed the true street lives and culture.
Vivid characteristics of Palace made it notable among the skate labels. Inspired by Less Is More philosophy, Palace use exaggerated logos on the back while keep it simple in the front of T Shirts. The 2016SS collection used color patches and stripes to create a retro style of 90s. The collaboration between Palace and Adidas Originals in 2015 made a huge success as well as collaboration continued this year. When it comes to the future plan, Tanju said they will keep producing high quality good not for business but for the love towards skates culture. ««
